Thank you ... just reading through the old testament and agonizing at the Old Covenant laws and ways and wondering who is this God that would require such things. This really helps and is an answer to prayer.

Excellent summary and excellent references to scripture! Once again, truths shall set the prisoner free!

Thank you for raising this. You are right that the Abrahamic Covenant and the Mosaic Covenant are not the same. They function very differently in Scripture and it is important to distinguish them.

The Abrahamic Covenant is a promise covenant. It is unconditional and based entirely on what God said He would do. It contains no law code, no priesthood, no rituals, and no conditions of obedience. Paul teaches in Galatians that the promise to Abraham pointed forward to Christ as the ultimate Seed.

The Mosaic Covenant is a law covenant. It was temporary, written on stone, mediated by priests, and dependent on Israel’s obedience. This is the covenant Hebrews says became obsolete and was replaced by the New Covenant in Christ.

So yes, the Abrahamic Covenant is forever in its purpose. And its purpose is fulfilled in Christ, which is why believers today live under the New Covenant, not under the covenant made at Sinai.

The distinction you mentioned is real and important. It does not contradict the study. It actually reinforces it, because it shows that the only covenant replaced was the Mosaic one, not God’s promise to Abraham.

Appreciate you bringing this up. It helps keep the foundation clear.
