We Canadians live and breathe the game . When my oldest son played Tyke hockey , his first coach Danny was a native Newfoundlander . The team lost every game . Danny always made it fun for the boys and one girl . No one ever missed a game or a practice. The only goal the team scored was shot by Chantel. You would have thought they won the Stanley Cup! Danny made the practices so much fun every kid was there for practice. “You win some, you lose some.. but you dress for ‘em all”
Chantel’s dad went on to form a very successful girls hockey programme in Ontario Canada . My son went on to play AAA , then Junior B in Ontario.
I’ll never forget those days ..they were
Golden !
Congratulations to USA Hockey on your Gold Medals . Keep your head up.. we’ll be back !
I agree fully and completely with what you have written. I will always remember this game as one of the best hockey games ever played and THE best goaltending performance of any goalie in any game ever played. There must be only one winner but all players should feel honored to have played with sportsmanship in a game that will be remembered for longer than the politicians "du jour" will be. The honoring of an American player who played hockey for a Canadian team, Johnny Gaudreau, who was tragically killed and left behind a wife to raise their 2 young children alone (but not without help) is what actually brought tears to my eyes, not the fact that the Candian team lost.
Leave is alone is the right thing to do. I doesn’t have to ever be political . We have more than enough of political nonsense to fill up the tank no matter how big it is.

As soon as Trudeau the Younger and his ilk started booing national anthems, I knew we were in trouble.
