Russia is certainly no world power. It can’t even defeat Ukraine. Its only power remaining is subversion - acting behind the scenes to cause disruption. But Russia’s allies are failing, first Syria, then Venezuela, and now Iran. And with that its impact on world affairs diminishes. Now that Europe has finally woken up to what Trump and USA have become (hint: it’s now disruptive, unstable, self-serving and corrupt), the Russian downfall is coming. The shadow fleet is being seized and its movements hindered, and along with Ukraine’s attacks on its energy infrastructure are destroying the Russian military capability. The Russian “empire” won’t survive past 2026. It’s no surprise that Canada is aligning with the EU - there is very limited appetite in Canada to align with autocrats, even if they happen to reside next door. Too bad that Maple MAGA doesn’t recognize this.
If Russia were truly irrelevant, Europe wouldn’t be reorganizing its energy system, NATO wouldn’t be rearming, and global markets wouldn’t still price its actions. Power isn’t about moral comfort. It’s about capacity and pretending otherwise is how countries misalign themselves in a multipolar world.
I didn’t say that Russia was irrelevant, it is still capable of causing great disruption on the world stage. Fortunately that will change in 2026. It just isn’t the “great world power” that Putin and Trump think it is. And when Russia falls, I look forward to reading your assessment concerning it.

Lester Pearson started the ball rolling with the cooperation of eugenicist fan Tommy Douglas; the introduction of Universal Health Care, Canada Pension Plan, Canada Student Loan Program, as well as starting Royal Commissions on several other progressive initiatives.
Trudeau the Elder started off in the same Cooperative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) as Douglas which evolved into the NDP but moved to the Liberal Party when he observed the CCF would never form government. The Elder followed up on Pearson's Royal Commissions forming Status of Women, Official Bilingualism, Multiculturalism etc.
Chretien moved things forward with legislation like the Immigrant & Refugee Protection Act and started the ball rolling on banning firearms to disarm the population.
Then along came Trudeau the Younger, the Clown Prince of Blackface, the WEF's knife in Canada's back. Now Carney is here to finish us off. There does appear to be some indication Carney's connections with international banking cabal and the WEF are the reasons why he's pushing Canada away from the USA and into the arms of China.
Given the moves Trump has pushed forward in the past few months, Trump might save Canada from ourselves although I don't think he's all that concerned about us.
China, desperation over Taiwan real estate and strategic manufacturing power will not prevail and will fatally weaken their reeling economy ,maybe over the edge , thoughtful strategists lay out the reasons why a collapse is unavoidable .
